South Florida gaming at it's finest.

This past Saturday I attended the
PyroPanda.com Round 2 Tournament featuring Super Street Fighter 4, Super Smash Bros Brawl, and Halo 3. I entered into the SSF4 and SSBB ladder on my own and was guilt tripped into participating in the Halo 3 FFA ladder. There were a handful of
MLG gamers for Halo and Smash Bros so it was nice to see a handful of potentials competing. Aglow recognized me from the tournament Dreweyes and I attended June 19th at Zero Ping hosted by ESAM (ranked #4 in MLG SSBB) so it was nice to have other like minded, down to earth competitive gamers to talk to while waiting for our matches. I'm not sure of my final placing in the SSBB tournament, but it was in the top half. It was actually extremely ironic how it happened. Drew and I both entered the Street Fighter and Smash Bros ladder together. We were matched up to face eachother at one point in both ladders. I beat him and eliminated him from the rest of the SSF4 tournament while he beat me and eliminated me from the rest of the SSBB tournament. Karma worked itself into that exchange!
Halo 3 FFA was fun. The only problem was that it was 16 players on maps like High Grounds, Narrows, and Snowbound... all gunning for each other. The first game I attempted to make a dent, but wasn't really that effective. I'm used to 4v4 MLG play, so going against 15 other guys was pretty chaotic. I went positive my first game and then just decided to throw all caution to the wind and have fun with the other 2 rounds remaining.
So overall it was an extremely fun event. I placed 3rd in the Street Fighter tournament (not bad for a Cammy player!) and between 6th and 8th in the Brawl tournament. I've only been playing Brawl competitively for about 3 weeks now and was receiving quite a few compliments from other players on my play style. I'll only get better with it.
I'm probably going to shift my focus from Tekken 6 to Smash Bros and shoot for MLG Dallas to compete. I'll still be going to Raleigh, NC for Tekken, but that will more than likely be my last Tekken event in MLG, unless I win the damn thing. I just don't think Tekken is a game worth putting so much effort into since 1) the SoFla Tekken scene sucks and 2) MLG can't even pull in over 100 competitors to their Tekken event while Brawl went from 180 to 250 in just one event. With 80 MLG Tekken entries, the skill gap goes from "newbie" to "pro", there is no inbetween. You go from facing a local who is just starting out to a world ranked South Korean gamer, so your game had better be 100% on point every match you play.
Just wanted to post a quick little update. I'm also out of ice cream >:(

I almost got arrested for neglecting my blog.
6/19/2010
It's 4 in the morning. I have to be up in 5 hours for a Smash Bros. Brawl tournament. My friend Drew (also known in the MLG scene as Dreweyes) were up pretty late preparing. This is my first Brawl tournament... ever... so I don't really plan to make a huge impact as much as to find out where I need improvement. Next weekend is yet another Brawl tournament as well as a SSF4 (that stands for Super Street Fighter Four for anyone a) reading this wearing an Ed Hardy shirt or b) anyone who isn't a gamer, thus resulting my questioning why the hell you're even still reading this) tournament. My Pikechu and Cammy should be well represented by then. I'm focusing more on local tournaments lately due to the fact I want to really help the Florida gaming scene to get put on the competitive map. If you're a female and are still reading after that, my number is 954-67.... forget it.
Oh yeah, I'm back to updating on a regular basis. I'll give my blog a facelift when I get a chance.
<4 (because I go beyond 3 in love... shyeah!)

With the help of a friend, I will be starting a blog at a .com, .net, or a .org... aaaactually just a .com or .org. If I register a .net, I can pretty much shoot it in the head right then and there. So, consider this my Angelfire/ Geocities/ Homestead 'Under Contruction' .gif picture.

Viruses suck.
7/27/2009
My computer has a virus. Not a pop up telling me "Hey you might have a virus" but an actual "Holy shit I can't work like this. Something is wrong" virus. A pop up keeps, well, popping up telling me it has found a virus (differently named every time) and wants me to buy the software to get rid of it. So that means its a virus trying to trick people into buying the "software" and then your credit card information goes out to the cool kids who designed the virus. The thing that pisses me off is it interrupts my typing whenever these pop ups appear. I've had to stop about 4 times already to close them out while I was typing this. Bloody brilliant!
I've been contemplating sending some of my gaming collection to
The Angry Video Game Nerd. Only ones I don't actually play or plan on playing in the future. Or rather, games I never want to visit or relive ever again. So I'll push the shittiness of the games over to the AVGN. Problem solved!

Not even 10 minutes after the Florida Gators won the BCS title, their
main page displayed that they were the 2008 national champs.
Almost 70% of their entire student body is on some sort of mind altering substance. Not to mention about 50% of that 70% are out in the streets, 5% of that 50% are probably naked.
Granted I don't have actual data to base these statistics off of, but I'm 65% right.
I got invited by David Walsh (AKA Walshy) to Michigan at the end of February for a 300 man LAN. I am already registered and ready to go. Hotel arrangements are the only thing that need to be finalized. I'm pretty damn excited. There will be a live broadcast of the LAN. When more details are given to me I'll be sure to post them.

Mama-Mia will always be a Mario reference to me.
1/04/2009
I wanted to write about a few things before I headed to bed tonight.
1) I will never watch the movie "Mama Mia". I have heard it being watched by other people which technically does not count due to the fact I've heard Abba before. But I will never watch this movie.
Actually, lets back track.
1) Rum and Coke is an amazing drink.
2) I will never watch the movie "Mama Mia". I have heard it being watched by other people which technically does not count due to the fact I've heard Abba before. But I will never watch this movie.
3) My girlfriend is seemingly addicted to two things as of tonight. Downloading new furniture for our Sims characters and Super Stardust for the PS3/ PSP. I do not mind either of these addictions what-so-ever.
I bought a book dedicated solely to Zelda and Philosophy. Awesome. I also bought Porn and Pong: a look on how sex and video games have influenced our culture.
I'm not writing too much tonight. My attention span is extremely slim right now and I have no more Rum and Coke to drink.
'Tis sad. =(
